The East 168th Step Street connects Clay Avenue to Teller Avenue, providing up to 10,000 square feet of new public space that residents can enjoy as they overlook Clay Avenue from the Portico view.
The City’s capital investment of 8.92 million dollars, reconstructed the new step streets consisting of 102 new granite steps and nine new pigmented concrete landings. On the upper side of the Step Street is a Portico area for community assembly and socializing. New lighting, handrails, benches and improved drainage. The Plaza area of the E168 Step Street includes two (2) trees, a large walking area and new sidewalks at both ends of Clay and Teller Avenues.
